STEROIDS JUST PART OF WINNING ™ FOR SF GIANTS
Thanks, New York Times and Carl Steward of the Bay Area News Group for reporting on the ‘politically incorrect’ ( at least in San Francisco) story of Giants’ JoseGuillen and steroid use. Again, Giants management turned a blind eye to the known reports of his past steroid use in 2002 and 2005 , including being part of the Mitchell Report.
I guess it’s just a part of the Giants ‘Win At Any Cost’ philosophy. Especially after its history of having the most ‘roided players (per the Mitchell report) and the Kingpin himself, Barry Bonds – who threw out the first pitch in the World Series opener (and remains a hero among Giants fans . (Would it not be unbelievable if he became hitting coach? Maybe not so unbelievable for the Giants.)
The BIG thing here is that , once again, three years after steroids were perportedly out of the game, they’re back and could well be influencing results. Guillen had a number of key games in September with the Giants, incluiing a couple game-winning hits. This alone could have made the difference between the Giants getting into the playoffs and World Series, at the expense of the Padres, who were only out by two games.
For GM Sabean to get angry when a reporter brought up the subject of Guillen and steroids and for Giants president Baer to do his standard ‘ it’s baseball’s issue’ after well knowing of Guillen’s past steroid history, before acquiring him in August one just has to shake his or her head. San Francisco is one of the most tolerant and progressive cities but I don’t see the Giants as progressive. They’re continuing to hurt baseball 10 years later – and if they win the whole enchilada it will be a travesty. . Hello Bud Selig. Where are you? You’re telling us you’re happy with the 25% dip on viewership of this year’s world series.
Another interesting thing, during this renwed talk of steroids on the Giants, one of Bond’s Merry Men from the mid 2000s , visiting ATT over the weekend to watch the Giants, tells u that , yes, he was using steroids then. But we’re hardly surprised.
Who knows how many other Giants players may still be using roids in 2010. I really was about to give some Giants some credit for winning this thing NATURALLY, but now , with this report, it brings back those old suspicions again. Not to cast aspersions but you look at certain members of the Giants motley crew doing things they’ve never done before, like Jose Uribe hitting more homers (26) than he’s ever hit – at age 32 – and in San Francisco’s spacious , cold ballpark. Being friendly with Guillen. You gotta wonder. Or , turn a blind eye, like Giants ‘Baer, Sabean and company

NEXT: Yet another big name steroid user on Giants?
Please don’t give the Giants and especially Giants gm Brian ‘BS’ Sabean too much credit.
The Giants names keep changing but the results are the unfortunate same.
The Giants keep bringing in fringe players other teams are suspect of and getting the most of them by means the average sports fan wouldn’t expect or pay attention to. So we go into another World Series with the biggest baseball scandal that nobody talks about still very present and affecting the outcomes of games and livelihood of players.

Depending on the timeline, Melky , Mota, Guillen or Bonds suggests the new kids try some ‘jints juice,’ which improves the hand-eye coordination, concentration, stroke and/or power, local Victor Conte tells them how they can inject up to 4x normal testosterone and not be caught by current MLB testing… ‘Hey watch us HIT!’ The weakling Giants who begin the season are suddenly leading the majors in hitting circa 2012!
So we see unnatural acts like Sandoval hitting three in one game and six in the postseason after only hitting 12 homers all year, Scutaro suddenly at age 37 hitting .360 for the Giants after hitting only
.271 with colorado in an easier park. Power or average goes up for other players, not to mentionvogelsong’s fastball goes from 90 during season to 94 post season, same for Lincecum…
Similar to 2010 when it was Ross and Torres brought doing it , along with others. Jints almost didit last year two but lost Posey and Willson at end of season, too late to get a replacement for them.

The Giants are now seeing the spoils of their success last
year when they won the World Series.
They say any team can win in short series, as the Giants did last year-in all the
playoffs. The bunch of previously castoff veterans mysteriously came to life last year in September about the time when accused steroid user,Jose Guillen joined the team.Another convicted drug user , Guermo Moto was already on the team.
Every would-be ‘washed-up’ veteran played way above their heads
Interesting the Giants just brought back to other drug users, or at least one admitted one,Marvin Bernard, along wtih jsaon Schmidt the weekend of August 27 . Interestinghow the Giants could care less of their reputation as being , by far, theteam having had the most convicted or alleged drug users…
So, put it all todgether…
This year Guillen is gone. But most of the others are still with the Giants, broken odownor insured. Think about it…
GM Brian Sabean was known for his poor trades – Zito, Rowand, etc – until he
started going after players no other teams wanted. Coincidense that all these
players whose better years were behind them suddenly all came to life at the
same time in September, after the addition of Guillen and his mail deliveries?
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Bay,the A’s have perhaps better hitters than
the Giants but GM Billy Beane continues to shuffle s bodies…
not that it seems to improve the play of the team. It took a fan revolt
to get rid of his friend, manager Bob Geren after four years of losing.
Beane seems to have a talent for qcquiring some good players, short term, but
only after giving away guys who seem to improve once they leave the As .
Seems like Beane didn’t really care much about winning anymore. He’s had his
first four losing seasons these past years since A’s ownership -including Beane-
has been very vocal about wanting to move the team. And, now , in a recent
statement, Beane actually admitted the A’s are just ‘treading water’ until they
can get their new stadium, preferably in San Jose or anywhere but Oakland.
Any surprise Oakland’s fan base continues to dwindle with ownership that
doesn’t seem to care?
With the many Giants trades gone bad, new team figure-head , who was instrumental in the world series wins, Bill Newkom , is let go. Obvious scapegoat – and in the midst of the season. Why coul;dn’t Mseseurs Baer and co. wait a nother couple weeks for the season to end.?
