San Francisco Giants Follow Up Season Shows True Colors- San Francisco Giants

san francisco GIANTS ¬†ANNOUNCERS SYMPTOMATIC¬† ¬†OF TEAM ‘S SELF-RIGHTEOUS ATTITUDE

A couple final season notes… Miller and Flemming , homers that they are, seemed very upset as Arizona clinched the NL pennant against them 9 /23. Miller took a shot at Arizona fans ¬†for failing to sell out the park by 3,000 (Arizona is a much smaller market than SanFrancisco. ¬†Several times he commented on Arizona’s ‘peculiar’ ‘resort’ in center field , where the players celebrated clinching the pennant against the Giants, in the pool, rather than ‘ circling the stadium giving ‘high fives’ to the fans.’

So., the ‘wows’ and ‘indeeds’ and umpire criticism are silenced for the winter. Can’t say as I’ll miss it. Like the giants’ players, their announcers are quite the ‘homers’ over-rated, which I’m sure the non-Giants baseball fans would agree with ¬†Personally, I’m glad to see Arizona bust their pompous chops.¬†Where across the bay, A’s announcers would suggest that players must overlook blown calls by umpires, the Giants announcers spent so much time harping on them- as if umpire calls ONLY go against the Giants – ¬†when they could have been telling some interesting sidelights ala Viu Scully…. Sayanara ‘Hall of Famer’ and ‘Flem’. ¬† The real Hall of Famer, Bill King, who never sought the national spotlight on the quiet side of the Bay, is still missing from the Hall. At least Kruko got more ‘real’ towards the end, finally getting after his hometown boys, the worst hitting team in the league and the worst to ever win, er, back into ¬†a World Series. ¬† Guillen and his bag of tricks are long gone and the real Giants are showing. No dynasty for these boys.

And, ¬†a sad demonstration by Giant’s corporate ownership to end the season- ¬† effectively firing head man and good guy Bill Newcomb (sp), ¬†who was instrumental in bringing the Giants a world series, though tarnished as it was (in this writers opinion) with steroid users (more to it than you know and was ever reported in the papers… but that’s another story, Jose Guillen and the boys, we’ve touched on elsewhere. ¬†Kudos to Newcomb for standing tall. Brickbats to Baer and Sabean for playing the corporate, money line ((Sabean consistently has gone after former – and current(?) – steroid users, ala Guillen, Mota, Tejada, etc that other teams wouldn’t ¬†touch after blowing it with trades and overpaying washed up players (Zito, Rowand, Huff, Ross, etc. etc. ¬† We’re ¬†now told that Sabean only took on Cody Ross, who had the one ‘magic’ month that propelled the Giants to the Series more than anyone, ¬†after Guillen was cut from the team by the leqgue after getting steroids ¬†thru the mail. ¬†And, we can go on about that ‘magic’ month for not only Ross but the entire team-interestingly coming just after acquiring Guillen and his ‘bag of tricks.’

We talked recently about the SF Giants sinking back to their true reality, the worst hittin team in baseball. If you listen to the Giants announcer, they seem to be following suite. Rather than announcers, they might be characterized as the ‘Giatns radio cheering section. Messeurs Fleeming, ‘Kru’ and thje “hall of Famer’ Miller seem to constantly be urgint eh Giants on, to little avail in recent days. They seem to spend much of their time complaining about the the bad breaks the Giants get, the injuries and especially the umpires and how they make bad calls on the Giants but not their opponents. And, their announcing prowess is sprinkled with cliches. We should nickname Flemming ‘ Big time’ and Miller ‘Indeed’ or ‘Wow’ or ‘Just Like That’ orany number of other over-used terms. And then there’s Miller’s¬†pregnant pauses, eg ‘Your (pause) Giants’ (pause) announcers’ Does he think he’s cute? ¬† ¬†The Giants are said to have one¬†of the best announcing teams. I don’t think so. The A’s , who could use some ‘homers’ more than the Giants have a much better announcing staff, who better use their time to discuss topics of interest other than the bad breaks of the team.

The big culprit of the Giants is ownership. They are the ones who do everything in a calculating way, ie win at any cost, ¬†including not ¬† considering letting the Oakland A’s ¬†exploring ¬†a move to ‘their’ territory in San Jose (which is kind of crarzy as they would have the Eastbay market pretty much their own if the A’s moved to San Jose. It’s ta team not hesitant to pick up prior known steroid users that other teams won’t touch.

Am then there’s Kruko, who is over the top at defending the Giants, though of late I think he is ¬†finally realizing he’s been making a fool of himself believing the Giants are a good team.

A couple final season notes… ¬†Miller and Flemming , homers that they were seemed very ¬†upset as Arizona clinched the NL pennant against them. ¬†Miller took a shot at Arizona for failing to sell out the park by 3,000 ¬†in a much smaller market. ¬†Several times he commented on Arizona’s ‘peculiar’ ‘resort’ in center field , where the players clebrated in the pool, criticizing them for not ‘ circling the stadium fans.

So., the ‘wows’ and ‘indeeds’ and umpire criticsm are silenced for the winter. At least Kruko got more ‘real’ towards the end, ¬†finally setting aside all his former Giants kudos.

MONEY BALL A JOKE – Giants Sink to their Reality, ¬† A’s Fans Suffer Ownership – MONEY BALL

The Giants are now seeing the spoils of their success last
year when they won  the World Series.
They say any team can win in short series, as the Giants did last year-in all the
playoffs. The bunch of previously castoff veterans mysteriously came to life last           year in September about the time when accused steroid user,Jose Guillen joined the team.Another convicted drug user , Guermo Moto was already on the team.
Every would-be ‘washed-up’ veteran played way above their heads

Interesting the Giants just brought back to other drug users,¬†or at least one¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† admitted one,Marvin Bernard, along wtih jsaon Schmidt the weekend of August 27 . ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†Interestinghow the Giants could care less of their reputation as being , by far,¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬†theteam having had the most convicted or alleged drug users…

So, put it all todgether…

This year Guillen is gone. But most of the others are still with the Giants, ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†broken odownor insured. Think about it…

GM Brian Sabean was known for his poor trades – Zito, Rowand, etc – until he
started going after players no other teams wanted. Coincidense that all these
players whose better years were behind them suddenly all came to life at the
same time in September, after the addition of Guillen and his mail deliveries?

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Bay,the A’s have perhaps better hitters than
the Giants but¬† GM Billy Beane continues to shuffle s bodies…
not that it seems to improve the play of the team. It took a fan revolt
to get rid of his friend, manager Bob Geren after four years of losing.
Beane seems to have a talent for qcquiring some good players, short term, but
only after giving away guys who seem to improve once they leave the As .

Seems like Beane didn’t really care much about winning anymore. He’s had his
first four losing seasons these past years since A’s ownership -including Beane-
has been very vocal about wanting to move the team. And, now , in a recent
statement, Beane actually admitted the A’s are just ‘treading water’ until they
can get their new stadium, preferably in San Jose or anywhere but Oakland.
Any surprise Oakland’s fan base continues to dwindle with ownership that
doesn’t seem to care?

With the many ¬†Giants trades gone bad, new ¬†team figure-head , who was instrumental in the world series wins, Bill Newkom , is let go. ¬†Obvious scapegoat – and in the midst of the season. Why coul;dn’t Mseseurs Baer ¬†and co. wait a nother couple weeks for the season to end.?
